Qualifying Marks (Cut-Off) – Telangana PA/SA LDCE 2026

Five questions were deleted from Paper-I. So the maximum marks were revised from 100 to 95, and qualifying marks were fixed accordingly as per Directorate letter No. A-34012/02/2022-DE dated 21.09.2023.

PaperMaximum MarksURSC / STPwD
Paper-I9538 (40%)31.35 (33%)31.35 (33%)
DEST2518.75 (75%)15 (60%)15 (60%)

Two very important points:

  • This is a promotional examination, so there is no reservation for OBC and EWS. The minimum qualifying percentage of the UR category applies to them.
  • DEST marks are only qualifying in nature. The final merit is drawn purely on the marks secured in Paper-I. You must clear both papers separately, but only Paper-I decides your rank.

Vacancy Position – Telangana Circle PA/SA 2026

A total of 78 vacancies were notified under the Departmental Promotion Quota (published on 12.08.2026).

Horizontal (PwBD) break-up: VH – 2, HH – 1, OH – 0, Others – 0.

Topper and Merit Highlights

  • Rank 1: Yelti Akash Reddy (Hall Permit 622017), Postman, Adilabad Division – 83 marks in Paper-I with 24.64 in DEST, allotted to RMS ‘Z’ as Sorting Assistant.
  • Rank 2: Thallapelli Vana Kumar (621033), Postman, Secunderabad – 79 marks, allotted PA (CO) Telangana.
  • Rank 3 (tie): Are Anil Kumar and Kaithoju Mahesh, both from Warangal – 78 marks each.
  • Several candidates including B. Niranjana Chary, Azmad Mohammad, Mankhala Prashanthi and Mergoju Naveen Kumar scored a perfect 25 in DEST.

Look at the cut-off pattern carefully. The last selected UR candidate under Category ‘A’ was around the 67-mark range, and reserved category selections went down to the low 60s. That gives you a realistic target for your own MTS to PA or Postman to PA preparation.

How Selection and Division Allotment Was Done

  • Candidates had to qualify Paper-I and DEST separately.
  • Merit was drawn in the order of Paper-I marks only.
  • A single merit list at Circle Level was prepared with successful Category ‘A’ candidates and the selected Category ‘B’ candidate.
  • Selected officials were allotted to Divisions/Units category-wise (PwBD, UR, SC, ST) as per merit, against the order of preference exercised for cadre and division, subject to vacancy availability.
  • For candidates with equal marks, inter-se merit was decided as per Directorate letter No. 04-08/2019-SPN-I dated 11.12.2020.

Important Conditions for Selected Officials

Please read these carefully before joining:

  • Selection is purely provisional and subject to fulfilment of Recruitment Rules 2022 conditions.
  • No provisional candidate shall be given appointment without regularization of candidature.
  • Officials with pending vigilance or disciplinary cases, or those undergoing punishment, will not be promoted and such cases will be referred back to the Circle Office.
  • Divisions must re-check roll numbers, names, community and eligibility before issuing the offer of appointment.
  • If a candidate is later found ineligible, the name will be deleted from the list.
  • If it is found that a candidate applied or appeared using false information, declaration or date, the selection will be cancelled without any notice.
  • Candidates who qualified in an earlier LDCE but refused the offer of promotion will be promoted only after one year from the date of refusal of the earliest offer.
  • The provision of reviewing results of failed SC/ST candidates has been discontinued as per Postal Directorate letter No. 4-13-2015-SPB-I dated 08.04.2016.

Joining and Compliance Dates

  • Division/Unit Heads must issue offer of appointment letters immediately.
  • Successful candidates may be directed to accept and join at the place of posting, or to decline the promotion.
  • Compliance must reach the Circle Office by 04.09.2026 without fail.

Special Remarks in the Result

  • Sl. No. 2 – Thallapelli Vana Kumar: declared successful, but the promotion will be effective only with effect from 01.07.2027 because of the penalty imposed vide SSPOs, Secunderabad Division order dated 23.03.2026.
  • Sl. No. 76 – Sangepu Laxman (UR-VH): promotion effective w.e.f. 09.10.2026 as per para 9 of the memo (earlier refusal of promotion).
  • Sl. No. 77 – Jakkula Nagesh (UR-VH) and Sl. No. 76 were exempted from DEST under PwBD provisions.
  • Category ‘B’ had a single selection – Gouda Sammaiah (UR-HH), MTS from Hyderabad Sorting, allotted PA at Hanamkonda.

Big Update for GDS Candidates in Telangana

Here is the line that every Gramin Dak Sevak in Telangana needs to read:

There are no LGO vacancies remaining unfilled for the vacancy year 2026 to be offered to Competitive Examination for recruitment to the cadre of Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant from Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs) after announcement of this result.

In simple words, all 78 posts were filled through the departmental promotion quota itself. So there will be no leftover CE quota for GDS to PA/SA in Telangana Circle this year. Keep an eye on the next vacancy year notification instead.

What This Means for Your Own Promotion Plan

The India Post promotion ladder is clear, and this result shows it in action:

  • GDS to MTS through the GDS to MTS Departmental Exam
  • GDS to Postman / Mail Guard through the departmental route
  • MTS to PA / SA through LDCE
  • Postman to PA / SA through LDCE
  • GDS to PA / SA through Competitive Examination, only when LGO vacancies remain unfilled

Almost every selected candidate in this Telangana list is a Postman, Postwoman, Mail Overseer, Mail Guard or MTS. That is the real message here — the departmental exam is the fastest and most reliable route to a Postal Assistant post.

How to Prepare for the Next Departmental Exam

If your name is not in this list, the next attempt is closer than you think. A simple plan that works:

  • Target Paper-I marks, not just passing. Merit is decided only by Paper-I. Clearing DEST is not enough.
  • Practise DEST daily anyway. You need 75% for UR. Fifteen focused minutes a day is enough.
  • Solve India Post Previous Year Question Papers. Nothing tells you the real difficulty level better.
  • Study the departmental rules and manuals directly. Most questions come from Post Office rules, not general market books.
  • Take a weekly mock test. A regular GDS to MTS Mock Test or PA SA Mock Test builds speed and exam temperament.
  • Track circulars. India Post Circulars and India Post Latest News often decide which topics matter this year.
  • Use structured classes if self-study is slow. GDS to MTS Online Classes, MTS to PA Online Classes and Postman to PA Online Classes with live plus recorded sessions save months of guesswork.
