Merit List Observations (Useful for Future Aspirants)

  • The top score was 128 out of 142, shared by three candidates.
  • Normal UR selections went down to around 100 marks.
  • In reserved and PwBD categories, selections went lower. The last selected candidate in the list (ST-OH) scored 66 marks.
  • Many qualified candidates got the remark “No vacancy is left in the preferred Divisions”. This means they had the marks but chose only a few divisions, and those seats were taken by higher-ranked candidates.
  • A few candidates were marked “Promoted to PA/SA: LDCE 2026”, as they had already cleared the Postal Assistant exam.
  • One candidate was not considered because the option form was not submitted, and one was marked unwilling to accept promotion.

Lesson: Score well, but also fill your division preferences wisely. Giving very limited options can cost you the promotion even after qualifying.

Important Dates for Selected Candidates

  • Accept or decline the posting: by 05.10.2026 using the proforma in Annexure-III. If not submitted, the promotion will be deemed declined.
  • Joining orders to be issued by divisions: on or before 05.10.2026.
  • Join the promotional post: on or before 08.10.2026. If not, it will be treated as declined.
  • Officials on leave: can join after their approved leave ends, but only if they give written acceptance.
  • Consolidated joining report by Regional Offices: 09.10.2026.

Key Rules Mentioned in the Result

Single circle merit list: One merit list was prepared for the whole circle. Divisions were allotted based on merit, category and the candidate’s order of preference.

No re-allotment after joining: Candidates who join their allotted division cannot ask for a different division later, even if a preferred seat becomes vacant due to someone declining.

Embargo period: Candidates who were earlier selected through LDCE but declined, and are selected again this year, will be promoted only after one year from the date of their last declination.

Vigilance or disciplinary case: Officials with a pending case or undergoing punishment will not be promoted. Such cases go back to the Regional Office.

Provisional selection: All selections are provisional and depend on meeting the Recruitment Rules. Names can be removed if any candidate is found ineligible or if any error is found.

PwBD Vacancies Carried Forward

Five UR PwBD vacancies of 2026 could not be filled due to non-availability of qualified PwBD candidates. These have been transferred to the GDS to Postman/Mail Guard Competitive Examination 2026:

  • BG East: HH 1
  • BG West: HH 1, OH 1
  • BG South: HH 1
  • Karwar: VH 1

Also, nine horizontal PwBD vacancies from earlier years have been carried forward to LDCE 2027. This is good news for GDS to Postman aspirants in Karnataka, as a few more seats move to their exam.

Re-totalling, Revaluation and RTI Details

  • No re-totalling or revaluation is allowed.
  • You can get a copy of your OMR/answer sheet through RTI by giving your OMR Form No. and Roll Number.
  • Fee: ₹25 per paper + ₹10 RTI fee, paid in the post office.
  • Submit through your Division/Unit with the original fee receipt.
  • Answer sheets are kept for one year only from the main result date.
  • RTI requests for this memo or the final answer keys will not be entertained, as both are already uploaded on www.indiapost.gov.in.

How to Prepare for the Next Postman/Mail Guard Exam

  • Focus most on Paper I and Paper II, as only these decide your rank.
  • Don’t take Paper III lightly. You still need to qualify it.
  • Practice typing daily for the DEST. UR candidates need at least 18.75 out of 25.
  • Solve India Post Previous Year Question Papers to understand the question style.
  • Take regular India Post Mock Tests for speed and accuracy.
  • Follow reliable India Post Study Material and join India Post Online Classes if you need structured guidance.

These tips work just as well for GDS to Postman, GDS to MTS, MTS to PA and Postman to PA departmental exams.
