Order of Preference for Filling the Posts

Eligibility Conditions

A. For Officials Within the Department of Posts

Eligible officials are:

  • Regular Dispatch Riders (Group C) and MTS (Group C)
  • In Pay Matrix Level-1, ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 (revised 7th CPC) [earlier PB-1 ₹5,200–20,200 + Grade Pay ₹1,800 under 6th CPC]
  • Working in the Department of Posts
  • Possessing a valid Driving Licence for Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles
  • Selection on the basis of a driving test to assess competence to drive Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles

B. For Officials From Other Ministries

If posts remain unfilled, officials from other Central Government Ministries can apply if they are:

  • Dispatch Riders on a regular basis, or
  • Regular Group ‘C’ employees in Pay Matrix Level-1, ₹18,000 – ₹56,900

And they must fulfil all of the following:

  1. Possession of a valid Driving Licence for driving Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles
  2. Knowledge of Motor Mechanism — the candidate should be able to remove minor defects in vehicles
  3. Experience of driving Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles for at least three years
  4. Pass in the 10th standard from a recognised Board or institute

Desirable qualification: Three years of service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer.

C. For Armed Forces Personnel

  • Armed Forces personnel who are due to retire, or who are to be transferred to reserve within one year, and who have the requisite experience and qualifications, will also be considered.
  • Such persons will be given deputation terms up to the date on which they are due for release from the armed forces. Thereafter, they may be continued on re-employment.

Age Limit

  • The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation / absorption shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
  • In the application proforma (Annexure-I), age is to be calculated as on 30.09.2026.

  5. Experience certificate for driving LMV & HMV for three years, attested by a Gazetted Officer
  6. Valid driving licence for LMV and HMV, attested by a Gazetted Officer
  7. 10th standard certificate, attested by a Gazetted Officer
