Ad-hoc Bonus 2025-26 Announced Before Diwali
Good news for Central Government employees! The Ministry of Finance (Department of Expenditure) has sanctioned the Non-Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) for the accounting year 2025-26.
Eligible employees will get bonus equal to 30 days’ emoluments, with a calculation ceiling of Rs. 7,000 per month. This means the maximum bonus is Rs. 6,908.
Quick Facts
- Order: OM No. 7/24/2007-E.III(A)
- Date: 15 October 2026
- Issued by: Shri Umesh Kumar Agarwal, Director, Department of Expenditure
- Bonus for: Accounting year 2025-26
- Quantum: 30 days’ emoluments
- Calculation ceiling: Rs. 7,000 per month
- Maximum amount: Rs. 6,908
- Casual labour: Rs. 1,184 (if eligible)
- Paid from: Existing budget of each Ministry/Department for 2026-27
Who is eligible?
- All Group ‘C’ employees
- All non-gazetted Group ‘B’ employees
- …who are not covered by any Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) scheme
- Also eligible: employees of Central Para Military Forces and Armed Forces
- Also extends to UT Administration employees who follow Central Government pay patterns and are not covered by any other bonus or ex-gratia scheme
Basic conditions
- You must be in service on 31 March 2026.
- You must have at least 6 months of continuous service during 2025-26.
- If you worked between 6 months and a full year, you get bonus pro rata (by number of months, rounded to the nearest month).
- All amounts are rounded off to the nearest rupee.
How the Bonus Is Calculated
The formula in the order is simple:
Bonus = (Average monthly emoluments or Rs. 7,000, whichever is lower) × 30 ÷ 30.4
(30.4 is the average number of days in a month.)
| Average monthly emoluments | Calculation | Bonus (rounded) |
|---|---|---|
| Rs. 7,000 or more | 7,000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = 6,907.89 | Rs. 6,908 |
| Rs. 5,000 (example) | 5,000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = 4,934.21 | Rs. 4,934 |
| Casual labour (Rs. 1,200) | 1,200 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = 1,184.21 | Rs. 1,184 |
Since the ceiling is Rs. 7,000, almost every regular Group C employee today gets the full Rs. 6,908 (if they worked the whole year).
Casual labour
Casual labourers are eligible if they worked at least 240 days a year for 3 years or more (or 206 days a year in offices with a 5-day week). They get Rs. 1,184, or less if their actual monthly pay is below Rs. 1,200. The “in service on 31 March” condition does not apply to casual labour.
