- This list is for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) candidates.
- Designations shown are BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak.
- This is the GDS to Postman / Mail Guard route through Competitive Examination (CE).

What is DEST and Why Is It Important?
DEST means Data Entry Skill Test. It is the typing and data entry stage of the exam.
- It is conducted as Paper-IV.
- It will be conducted as per revised parameters circulated by the Directorate vide letter no. 17-08/2018-SPN-I dated 19.12.2022.
- Clearing the written paper alone is not enough. DEST must also be cleared.
- Candidates who fail DEST will not be considered for final selection.

About the Hall Permit
A specimen Hall Permit for DEST is attached with the letter. Key points:
- Hall Permit will be issued by your Division / Sub-Division / Unit Head.
- It must be issued by 22.09.2026.
- You must paste your photograph, duly attested by a departmental officer.
- Your specimen signature must be attested by the controlling authority with office seal.
- Your Roll Number will be printed on it.
- You must sign in front of the invigilator inside the exam hall.
- After the exam is over, you must surrender the Hall Permit to the Centre Supervising Officer.
Do not lose this document. Without it, entry into the exam hall is not allowed.
Checklist: What Candidates Should Do Now
- Download the official PDF and open the correct Annexure (A for MTS, B for GDS).
- Search your Roll Number and OMR ID carefully.
- Check that your name, division, designation and category are correct.
- If there is any mistake, inform your Divisional Office immediately in writing.
- Collect your Hall Permit from your Division on or before 22.09.2026.
- Confirm your batch timing from the Centre Supervisor.

Many candidates clear the written paper but fail DEST. Avoid that mistake.

- Focus on accuracy first, speed second. Errors reduce your score badly.
- Practice on the official tool, because the real interface feels different from normal typing websites.
- Learn the keyboard properly. Do not look at the keys again and again.
- Practice with numbers and special characters, not only plain English text.
- Sit with correct posture. It reduces fatigue during the test.
