What Has Changed in Chhattisgarh Postal Circle?
Chhattisgarh is a large state with many forest and tribal areas, and some postal divisions there cover a very big area. To make supervision easier and to grow business, the Department of Posts has approved four new Postal Divisions and five new Postal Sub-Divisions in the Chhattisgarh Circle.
The Office Memorandum (No. Y-38/22/2026-PE-II-DoP) was issued by the Establishment Division at Dak Bhawan on 12 October 2026. The changes start from 1 November 2026.

The 4 New Postal Divisions
1. Dantewada Postal Division (from Bastar, Kanker and Rajnandgaon)
Dantewada Division is made by reorganising Bastar, Kanker and Rajnandgaon Divisions. All three old divisions continue in a smaller form. The new Divisional Office will work from the existing departmental building at Dantewada.

2. Gariaband Postal Division (split from Raipur)
Gariaband Division is carved out of Raipur Division. The Divisional Office will work from the existing Gariaband SO building.

Two new divisions are made by reorganising Bilaspur, Raigarh and Surguja Divisions.

Note: These are the figures exactly as printed in the OM. In a few places, the “before” and “after” totals do not add up neatly (for example, some Sub-Offices and Branch Offices are also being moved between divisions, such as from Raipur to Raigarh). The 5 New Postal Sub-Divisions
Each new sub-division will start from an existing post office building, so no new building is needed. (HO = Head Office, SO = Sub-Office, BO = Branch Office.)
1. Keshkal Sub-Division
The OM text places Keshkal under the residual Kanker Division. It will work from the existing Keshkal SO building. Revised sub-division list from Annexure-IV:

Note: The Keshkal table’s total (22 SOs, 621 BOs) matches the residual Bastar Division in Annexure-I, and the Madded/Dornapal table lists the Dantewada, Bijapur and Sukma areas. So the division named in the OM text and the tables may not line up exactly. Please check the Circle’s final orders before relying on the division names.
5. Rajim Sub-Division (new Gariaband Division)
Rajim Sub-Division comes under the new Gariaband Division and will work from Rajim SO, which is in a departmental building.

Offices moving out and in:
- 3 Sub-Offices and 31 Branch Offices go to Raigarh Division: 2 SOs + 17 BOs from Balodabazar and 1 SO + 14 BOs from Saraipali.
- 2 Branch Offices come into Dhamtari Sub-Division from Kanker Division.
What It Means for Staff
- Group B and C staff: The Head of the Circle will redeploy them, in consultation with CIFA and the Head of Region/Divisional Head.
- Willingness first: Staff will be moved based on their willingness or request, to keep costs and inconvenience low.
- Which posts can move: Only live posts. Posts that were surrendered earlier, recommended for abolition by a Work Study team or cadre review, or “deemed to be abolished” cannot be used.
- Group A officers: Separate orders will come from the Postal Directorate. Until then, the new units will run through local arrangement or additional charge.
- No new budget: Costs come from existing funds. Any new inspection vehicle needs separate approval.
One-Year Review
The Circle has to grow revenue and improve the Expense Coverage Ratio (ECR) of new and old units. After one year, the before-and-after figures (concurred by CIFA) will be sent to the Establishment Division.
