GDS to MTS Vacancy 2026 – Uttar Pradesh Circle Full List

India Post has released the official Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) Vacancy List for the year 2026 (01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026) for the Uttar Pradesh Circle. This is very good news for GDS to MTS aspirants, because a big part of these vacancies will be filled through the GDS to MTS Competitive Exam and seniority-cum-fitness quota.

If you are preparing for GDS to MTS Departmental Exam, this vacancy list tells you exactly how many posts are open in your division. Let’s understand it in simple words.

What Is This Document About?

This is an official annexure (“Annexure-D”) released by India Post. It shows:

  • Total number of MTS vacancies for each division and unit under UP Circle
  • Vacancies deducted under Compassionate Quota (5%)
  • Vacancies deducted under Sports Quota (2%)
  • Final vacancies left after these deductions, which are called CQ & SQ vacancies
  • Category-wise breakup (UR, EWS, OBC, SC, ST)
  • Horizontal breakup (VH, HH, OH, Others – meaning reserved seats for persons with disabilities)

How These MTS Vacancies Will Be Filled

The notification explains the recruitment method very clearly. In simple points:

  • 100% of vacancies are first offered to casual labourers of the recruiting Division or Unit, based on seniority-cum-fitness (with several conditions and preference order).
  • If casual labourer quota is not fully used, the remaining vacancies are filled as follows:
    • 50% through seniority-cum-fitness from willing Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) of the recruiting Division, who have worked regularly for five years.
    • 50% through Competitive Examination, restricted to GDS of the recruiting Postal Circle, who have worked regularly for three years.
  • If any vacancy still remains unfilled, it is filled through direct recruitment from the open market, as per the scheme circulated by the Department of Posts.

This means the GDS to MTS Exam is a genuine and important path for GDS employees to get promoted into MTS posts.
