India Post is changing the way its administrative offices are set up.
On 15 September 2026, the Department of Posts (Establishment Division) issued a letter to all Heads of Postal Circles. It gives a common organisation structure for:

Why Was This Change Needed?
Circles had already sent their proposals for a revised structure. The Directorate checked them for both horizontal and vertical alignment.
It found that:
- The existing and proposed structures were not properly aligned.
- Branches and workload were not shared fairly.
So the Directorate has now given one common model for everyone to follow.
(A) Group Officers at Circle Level (APMG / AD)
Group Officers in the Circle Office are the link between the Directorate and the Divisions. They also plan and monitor work at the circle level.

- Group Officers in all Circles should have a common portfolio, matching the Directorate structure.
- This will help with better coordination, faster response and uniform implementation of policies.
