  • CE-2026 – for recruitment to the cadre of Postman, Mail Guard and Multi-Tasking Staff from eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), against the unfilled LDCE-2026 vacancies of Postman, Mail Guard and MTS

So this single answer key serves candidates across all these routes:

The Big Story: Around 8 Questions Dropped in Paper-I

This is the part candidates must not miss.

In Paper-I, a significant number of questions have been marked “Dropped” in the final key. The dropped questions appear at different serial numbers in each set, because the same questions are shuffled across Sets A, B, C and D.

Dropped question numbers, set-wise, in Paper-I:

  • Set A: Q1, Q4, Q12, Q13, Q14, Q24, Q46, Q49
  • Set B: Q2, Q3, Q4, Q14, Q21, Q24, Q36, Q39
  • Set C: Q4, Q11, Q22, Q23, Q24, Q41, Q44
  • Set D: Q7, Q17, Q18, Q19, Q27, Q30, Q32, Q35

That is roughly 8 out of 50 questions, or about 16% of Paper-I.

Paper-II and Paper-III show no dropped questions in the key. Every question there carries a definite answer.

What “Dropped” actually means for your score

  • A dropped question is removed from evaluation because of an error in the question, options, or translation.
  • Normally, full marks are awarded to all candidates for a dropped question, or the paper is evaluated out of the reduced number of questions. The exact method follows the Circle’s evaluation rules.
  • Either way, you do not lose marks for a dropped question, and you should not count it as a wrong answer while self-scoring.
  • Practically, this compresses the scoring range in Paper-I. When 8 questions go to everyone equally, your real ranking gets decided by the remaining 42 questions — and by Paper-II and Paper-III. Small differences matter more than usual this year.

How to Check Your Score Correctly

Follow this order and do not skip step 1:

  1. Confirm your Set first. Set A, B, C and D have completely different answer sequences. Checking against the wrong set will give you a badly wrong score. Your set is printed on your question paper and OMR sheet.
  2. Mark dropped questions separately. Do not count them as wrong. Set them aside.
  3. Count your correct answers from the remaining questions in Paper-I.
  4. Do the same for Paper-II and Paper-III, where nothing has been dropped.
  5. Check the negative marking rule applicable to your exam before subtracting anything. Do not assume.
  6. Keep a written record of your calculation. If a result discrepancy arises later, you will need it.

Final Answer Key vs Provisional Answer Key

An important distinction many candidates get wrong:

  • A provisional key is open to objections. Candidates can submit representations with proof within a given window.
  • This is a final answer key. The objection stage is over. The dropped questions listed here are the outcome of that process.
  • Results will be prepared on the basis of this key. There is no further challenge window on the answers themselves.

So the useful action now is not to argue the key — it is to calculate your score and prepare for what comes next.

What Happens After the Answer Key

The typical sequence from here:

  • Evaluation of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the basis of this final key
  • Declaration of the qualified candidates list
  • Shortlisting for the Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) — usually restricted to three times the number of approximate vacancies
  • DEST conducted for 15 minutes, maximum 25 marks
    • Postman / Mail Guard: 600 key depressions (± 5%)
    • Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant: 1000 key depressions (± 5%)
    • Qualifying: 75% for Gen/OBC/EWS, 60% for SC/ST/PWD
  • Submission of division-wise preference forms
  • Final merit and allotment

If you think you have cleared, start typing practice today. Do not wait for the qualified list. Candidates who begin DEST practice only after the shortlist is published routinely run short of time. The official practice prototype is available at https://cept.gov.in/dest/training.html.
