India Post has temporarily stopped booking of time-bound Speed Post articles to and from Delhi because of the BRICS Summit being held in the capital.

What Exactly Has Been Stopped?
Delhi Circle has been asked to disable all destination pincodes for these four time-bound Speed Post products:
- 24 SP (24-hour Speed Post)
- 24 SPP
- 24 SPP Special
- 48 Speed Post
The restriction applies to booking from all 6 metro booking cities, including Delhi.
In simple words: you cannot book a 24-hour or 48-hour guaranteed Speed Post article destined for Delhi from any metro city right now.
Why This Has Been Done
Because of the BRICS Summit, there are movement restrictions across Delhi and offices are closed. Post offices in Delhi will remain closed on 11, 12 and 13 September 2026.
If articles were still being booked under a 24-hour or 48-hour guarantee, they simply could not be delivered on time. The Directorate has stated the purpose clearly — to avoid booking articles that cannot be delivered within the prescribed SLA, and to prevent customer complaints arising out of these temporary operational restrictions.
So this is a customer-protection step, not a service withdrawal.
