227 OMR Sheets Rejected: What Went Wrong?

This is the most important part of the notice. 227 candidates lost their chance, not because of low marks, but because of mistakes while filling the OMR sheet.

The reasons given are:

  • Incorrect bubbling of roll number: wrong circles filled, digits missed, or extra bubbles darkened
  • Roll number not bubbled at all: the roll number section was left blank

Here’s how the rejections are split:

  • 29 in LDCE to Postman/Mail Guard (MTS candidates)
  • 103 in CE for GDS to Postman/Mail Guard/MTS
  • 95 in CE for MTS, which affects GDS aspirants in the GDS to MTS Uttar Pradesh Circle exam

The machine could not read these sheets, so they were not evaluated. All their hard work in the exam went to waste over a simple mistake.

Important Instructions From the Circle Office

  • Names, roll numbers and categories are based on details sent by the divisions. Heads of Regions and Divisions must recheck these details and the eligibility of each candidate.
  • If any candidate is later found not eligible, or there is any mistake in the list, their name will be removed from the shortlist.
  • Divisional Heads should ask shortlisted candidates to practise computer typing, especially using all the keys on the keyboard, well before DEST.
  • Venue and schedule for DEST will be informed separately.

How to Prepare for DEST

DEST is qualifying, but you must clear it to be selected. Here are some simple tips:

  • Practise daily for at least 20 to 30 minutes on a computer keyboard.
  • Learn all the keys, including numbers, symbols and the shift key, as the Circle Office has specially mentioned this.
  • Focus on accuracy first, then speed. Mistakes can cost you more than slow typing.
  • Use a real keyboard, not a phone, so your fingers get used to it.
  • Take typing tests online to check your speed and accuracy under a time limit.

Lessons for Future Aspirants

  • Fill your OMR sheet carefully. Check your roll number twice before you start answering, and once more before you submit. Use the correct pen and darken each bubble fully.
  • Practise with OMR sheets at home. Many GDS to Postman Mock Tests now come with OMR practice sheets. Use them.
  • Start typing practice early. Don’t wait for the written result. If you clear the written exam, you may get very little time before DEST.

If you are preparing for the next GDS to Postman Departmental Exam or GDS to MTS exam, follow the GDS to Postman Syllabus, solve previous year question papers, and take full-length mock tests with OMR sheets. Good GDS to Postman Online Classes can help you prepare for both the written paper and DEST together.

Final Words

Congratulations to all 1,927 candidates who have made it to the DEST stage! Now is the time to sharpen your typing skills and keep an eye out for the DEST schedule.

To the 227 candidates whose OMR sheets were rejected, this is a tough lesson, but it’s one you can fix easily next time. Keep preparing, and come back stronger.
