What Is the Limited Transfer Facility (LTF)?
LTF is the facility that allows GDS to request a transfer to another post. The applications are processed online.
Sometimes, more than one GDS applies for the same vacant post. In such cases, the department follows a fixed Order of Priority to decide whose application is processed first.
The rules for this were given in the OM dated 10.10.2024. Now, Para 2 of that OM has been fully replaced with a new version.
New Order of Priority for GDS Transfer (Full List)
When two or more applications come for the same post, they will now be processed in this order:
- GDS with PwD (having benchmark disabilities)
- Female GDS on spouse ground
- The husband must be working at the destination station in Central/State Government, or their undertaking/PSU/subordinate organisation.
- A certificate must be submitted.
- Male GDS on spouse ground
- The wife must be working at the destination station in a non-transferable job in Central/State Government, or their undertaking/PSU/subordinate organisation.
- A certificate must be submitted.
- Date of engagement
- A GDS who joined earlier gets preference over one who joined later.
- Female GDS (other than spouse ground)
- Transgender GDS ✅ (Newly added)
- Must have a valid certificate issued under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, or by the competent authority / District Magistrate.
- Date of birth
- The older applicant gets preference.
- Date and time of application
- The applicant who applied earlier gets preference.
Important Note on Spouse Ground
Please keep these points in mind if you are applying on spouse ground:
- This preference is only available if your spouse works in:
- Central Government, or
- State Government, or
- Any subordinate organisation or undertaking of Central/State Government.
- You must upload the certificate issued by your spouse’s employer while applying.
- The certificate must be in the format given in Annexure-I or Annexure-II, as applicable.

- CEPT Mysuru has been asked to update the online transfer portal.
- The portal will be changed to capture the new category and the required certificate.
- This will be done before the next online transfer cycle is notified.
- All other rules of the OM dated 10.10.2024 remain the same.
