What Is This New India Post Order About?
This is one of the biggest India Post circulars of the year for officers. Over the last few days, the Department of Posts restructured circles, created new Regions and HQ Regions, and merged or split Divisions and Sub-Divisions. Now the officer posts that run these units have been moved to match.
The Establishment Division at Dak Bhawan has issued an Office Memorandum that redistributes JAG and SAG level posts (PMG, DPS, Director, DDG and GM level posts) across the whole country. Each circle now gets new heads for Logistics, Sales and Transportation, along with the usual Head of Region.

- Directorate JAG posts: Director (IR) → Director (Transportation), Director (Staff) → Director (Personnel), Director (PMU-II) → Director (PMU), and a new Director (DAC).
- RAKNPA & PTCs: All existing posts stay, and a new Director, PTC Shivpuri post is added.
- CEPT: GM, CEPT Mysuru is listed as GM, CEPT Bengaluru. A fresh GM, CEPT Mysuru post comes from PMG Pune, and a Director, CEPT Mysuru post comes from Director PLI Kolkata.
Entries Worth Double-Checking
A few remarks in the Annexure do not match each other. Please check with your circle office before relying on these entries.
- Assam (No. 10): The existing post is shown as DPS (Mails & BD), Guwahati, but the remark says DPS Kohima is redeployed to Dimapur. No. 65 separately sends DPS Mails & BD, Guwahati to Bhopal.
- Maharashtra (No. 68): DPS (Mails & BD), Mumbai is shown becoming DPS Sales, but the remark talks about DPS Navi Mumbai (which No. 78 also covers). No. 37 sends DPS Mails & BD, Maharashtra to Himachal Pradesh.
- West Bengal (Nos. 146 and 151): No. 146 shows DPS Sales in the revised column but says DPS FPO Kolkata in the remark. No. 151 repeats the Kolkata City remark against Director (GPO), Kolkata, while No. 125 sends Director GPO Kolkata to Uttarakhand.
What This Means for Staff and Exam Aspirants
For staff in offices:
- Your Divisional office may now report to a different Region or a new Region head. Watch for your circle’s notification on jurisdiction.
- Mail, parcel and transport matters will move under the new Logistics and Transportation heads. Business and sales targets will move under DPS Sales.
- The officers who will hold these posts will be named in separate posting orders, so expect more orders in the coming weeks.
For departmental exam aspirants:
A change this big is very likely to appear in GK and current affairs questions. Note these points:
