Before every GDS Online Engagement cycle, each postal circle has to check one thing carefully: are the 10th class boards on the GDS portal correctly configured?
Bihar Circle has now completed that check for Schedule-II, July 2026 and sent its report to CEPT.
The headline finding is simple:
- “No new Boards are to be added for Bihar Circle”
- All 10 existing boards were tested
- Every board showed 100% logic found correct

Why This Matters to Every GDS Applicant
GDS selection has no written exam. Your entire merit position depends on one number — the percentage of your Class 10 marks.
That percentage is not typed in by you. It is calculated automatically by the GDS Online Engagement Portal based on:
- The board you select
- Your year of passing
- The subject-wise marks you enter
So if a board is wrongly configured on the portal — wrong total marks, wrong subject list, wrong validity year — your calculated percentage could come out wrong. That directly affects your merit rank.
This is exactly why board verification is done before the notification opens. Bihar Circle’s report confirms the calculation logic is working correctly.

Important point: none of these boards is marked as a PWD board in the portal configuration.
Notice How the Same Board Appears More Than Once
Look at Bihar School Examination Board — it appears four times with different total marks: 900, 800, 700 and 500.
This is not a mistake. BSEB changed its marking pattern over the years:
- 1981 to 1994 → 900 marks pattern
- 1995 only → 800 marks pattern
- 1996 to 2006 → 700 marks pattern
- 2007 onwards → 500 marks pattern
The same applies to Bihar Sanskrit Siksha Board (1000 marks up to 2000, then 800 marks) and Bihar State Madrasa Education Board (1200 marks up to 2017, then 1000 marks).
What this means for you: when you fill the GDS form, you must select the board entry that matches your year of passing. Selecting the wrong version will either block your entry or calculate a wrong percentage.
How the Percentage Calculation Was Tested
Three test cases were run on every board to confirm the maths. The results show the logic clearly:
- BSEB (500 marks pattern): 175 marks → 35% | 225 marks → 45% | 450 marks → 90%
- BSEB (700 marks pattern): 280 marks → 40% | 357 marks → 51% | 630 marks → 90%
- BSEB (800 marks pattern): 328 marks → 41% | 392 marks → 49% | 720 marks → 90%
- BSEB (900 marks pattern): 315 marks → 35% | 495 marks → 55% | 810 marks → 90%
- Madrasa Board (1000 marks): 350 marks → 35% | 450 marks → 45% | 900 marks → 90%
- Madrasa Board (1200 marks): 420 marks → 35% | 540 marks → 45% | 1080 marks → 90%
- BBOSE (500 marks): 200 marks → 40% | 225 marks → 45% | 300 marks → 60% | 450 marks → 90%
In every case the portal returned the correct figure. That is what “100% Logic Found Correct” in the letter means.
Common Mistakes While Filling GDS Marks
These small errors cost candidates their rank every single cycle:
- Selecting the wrong board version for your passing year
- Entering grade points instead of marks, or the reverse
- Skipping the CGPA field when your board issues CGPA, or filling it when your board does not allow it
- Adding additional/extra subject marks that the portal does not count
- Rounding off your own percentage instead of letting the portal calculate it
- Not matching the marksheet exactly — one wrong digit can lead to rejection at document verification
Checklist Before You Submit the GDS Form
- Original Class 10 marksheet in front of you while filling
- Correct circle and correct board version selected
- Year of passing matches the board’s validity period
- Subject-wise marks entered exactly as printed
- CGPA entered only if your board allows it
- Percentage shown by the portal cross-checked with your own calculation
- Preview page checked carefully before final submit

Q1. Is a new GDS notification out for Bihar Circle? This letter is a pre-notification technical step, not a notification. It confirms the board list is ready for the July 2026 Schedule-II engagement cycle.
