- Competitive Examination for GDS candidates for unfilled LDCE vacancies of 2026
- This exam is for candidates who already qualified in Paper-I held on 28.06.2026

- VH-MTS and Postman/Mail Guard candidates who are exempted from DEST (as per Directorate guidelines dated 21.11.2022) do not need to appear.
- Candidates appointed on compassionate grounds (CRC cases on or after 22.03.2021) will also be included in this DEST.
DEST Exam Pattern (Very Important)

- Duration: 15 minutes only
- Total Key Depressions: Almost 1000 (with 5% margin allowed)
- Maximum Marks: 25 Marks
- Mode: Computer-based typing test
- Evaluation: Fully automatic, done by the system
- Candidates must type the paragraph shown on screen, sentence by sentence
- Capital and small letters matter — the test is case-sensitive
- A full stop/dot must be typed at the end of every sentence
- Minimum 5 key depressions needed before the “Next Sentence” button becomes active
- Backspace key does not work in this test — use arrow keys, mouse, or delete key for corrections
- After 15 minutes, the system does “Auto Submit” automatically
- A printed answer sheet is generated after evaluation
- Candidate has to sign the printed answer sheet before leaving the exam hall
