Huge update for every Gramin Dak Sevak in Delhi. The Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Delhi Circle, Meghdoot Bhawan, New Delhi has declared the final result of TWO examinations together:
- CE for GDS to Postman / Mail Guard (PM/MG)
- CE for GDS to MTS
The order — No. Rectt/R-2/PM-MG-MTS/2026/KW(ii), dated 16.09.2026 — carries the complete merit list with Division/Unit allotment.
If you are a GDS, BPM, ABPM or Dak Sevak who appeared in this exam, read every point below carefully.

Very Important Rule: Second Chance for Postman Applicants
This is the most valuable point in the entire order. Read it twice.
GDS candidates who applied for BOTH Postman and MTS cadre, and were:
- Rejected in Paper-II or Paper-III, OR
- Not qualified in Paper-III or Paper-IV (DEST),
- but qualified in Paper-I,
have been considered for the posts of MTS as per their merit list, along with all other GDS to MTS candidates.
What this means in simple words: If you missed Postman because of the typing test or Paper-II, you were not thrown out. You were automatically moved into the GDS to MTS merit list and many such candidates have now been selected as MTS.
Lesson: Always apply for both cadres if you are eligible. Applying for one cadre only can cost you a job you had already earned on merit.

Key points:
- Postman merit = Paper-I + Paper-II combined, provided Paper-III and DEST are cleared separately.

Cut-Off Analysis (Very Useful for Next Year)
GDS to Postman
- Topper: Bhanu Pratap Singh — 140 out of 142 (92 in Paper-I + a perfect 48 in Paper-II). An outstanding score.
- Top 5 all scored 124 and above.
- Last selected (Rank 88): 52 out of 142, against an SC vacancy.
- UR last selected: around 58 to 60 marks.
- Nearly all selections were made against UR vacancies, because there is no reservation-style cut in a merit-based recruitment list of this kind.
GDS to MTS
- Topper: Nitesh Kumar — 82 out of 94 in Paper-I.
- UR last selected: 38 marks out of 94.
- OBC last selected: 36 marks.
- SC last selected: 34 marks.
- ST last selected: 34 marks.
The big insight: The GDS to MTS cut-off is dramatically lower than the GDS to Postman cut-off. Candidates with 38 to 50 marks in Paper-I were selected as MTS. This is exactly why applying for both cadres is so important.
Posting pattern
- Top rankers got ND Central Division, New Delhi GPO and Circle Office.
- Middle rankers got ND South, ND West and ND South West Divisions.
- Lower rankers got Airmail Sorting, Delhi Sorting and MMS.

Important Dates — Act Immediately
- By 23.09.2026 — Training cum posting orders to be issued by the Head of the allotted Division/Unit.
- On or before 30.09.2026 — Selected candidates must join the post as per the posting order.
- By 01.10.2026 — Refusal, if any, must be sent to Circle Office by e-mail the next day.
Other Important Conditions in the Order
- If any selected candidate is later found ineligible, or any discrepancy is found in the merit list, the candidature will be treated as cancelled.
- No candidate whose punishment period is still in force shall be appointed before the expiry of that punishment period. (See the note against Rank 10 in Annexure-I.)
- For SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates, appointment is provisional, subject to verification of Caste/EWS/PwBD certificates. An undertaking must be obtained at the time of joining, and verification completed within one month.
- Revaluation requests will not be entertained.
- Heads of Divisions/Units must re-check service particulars before issuing the offer of appointment. Any discrepancy must be reported to Circle Office immediately.
- The Competent Authority reserves the right to make changes in the merit list.
- Detailed marks of all candidates who appeared, and details of filled/unfilled vacancies, will be released shortly.
- Result is being uploaded on the India Post website by CEPT, Mysore.
OMR Answer Sheet Copy — RTI Procedure
- Pay Rs. 25/- per paper (with key) plus Rs. 10/- as RTI application fee in the post office accounts.
- Submit the application through the Division/Unit concerned.
- Attach the original fee payment receipt.
- Applications only under the RTI Act.
Lessons for GDS to MTS, GDS to Postman and MTS to PA Aspirants
Seven clear takeaways from this Delhi Circle result:
- 1. Always apply for both cadres. Failing DEST for Postman does not end your chance if you also applied for MTS. Many were saved by exactly this rule.
- 2. Paper-I is king for MTS. For GDS to MTS, only Paper-I marks count. Master it.
- 3. For Postman, Paper-I + Paper-II decide merit. Do not neglect Paper-II — the topper scored a perfect 48 there.
- 4. Paper-III and DEST are qualifying but fatal if failed. They add nothing to merit, yet one failure removes you completely.
- 5. Practise descriptive writing. Paper-III has 30 MCQ marks plus 20 descriptive marks.
- 6. Higher rank = better posting. Circle Office and GPO postings went to the top of the list.
- 7. Clear any pending disciplinary matter. A punishment in force delays your appointment even after selection.

Q1. How many candidates were selected in Delhi Circle GDS CE 2026?
88 candidates for the Postman cadre and 71 candidates for the MTS cadre — a total of 159 selections.
Q2. I failed DEST for Postman. Am I out completely?
No. If you applied for both Postman and MTS and qualified Paper-I, you were automatically considered in the GDS to MTS merit list.
Q3. How is GDS to MTS merit calculated?
Only on the basis of Paper-I marks out of 94. There is no DEST for MTS.
Q4. How is GDS to Postman merit calculated?
On Paper-I + Paper-II combined, out of 142, provided Paper-III and Paper-IV (DEST) are cleared separately.
Q5. Were Mail Guard posts filled?
The order covers vacancies earmarked for GDS plus unfilled LDCE vacancies for Postman/Mail Guard. The selections announced in Annexure-I are for the Postman cadre.
Q6. What was the lowest selected mark?
For Postman, 52 out of 142. For MTS, 34 out of 94.
Q7. Can I apply for revaluation?
No. Revaluation is not permitted. You may obtain a photocopy of your answer sheet through RTI.
Q8. By when must I join?
Posting orders by 23.09.2026 and joining on or before 30.09.2026.
