PLI / RPLI McCamish Downtime 19 to 21 September 2026 — India Post 48-Hour Scheduled Outage Notice

Published: 18 September 2026 | Category: India Post Circulars & Latest News

Important notice for all Post Office staff, PLI/RPLI users and customers. The Directorate of Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Technology Section has issued a communication dated 17.09.2026 informing all Circles about a scheduled downtime of approximately 48 hours due to an archival activity.

If you are a GDS, BPM, ABPM, MTS, Postman or Postal Assistant working at a counter, please read this carefully and plan your work accordingly.

Quick Summary of the Downtime

  • Issued by: Technology Section, Directorate of Postal Life Insurance
  • Reference e-mail date: 17.09.2026
  • Reason: Scheduled archival activity
  • Total duration: Approximately 48 hours
  • Downtime starts: 1:00 PM on 19 September 2026 (Saturday)
  • Downtime ends: 10:00 AM on 21 September 2026 (Monday)
  • Applications impacted: All McCamish applications and associated peripheral systems
  • Activity begins: After completion of the Saturday core batch processing

Most Important Instruction for Counter Staff

All application transactions must be stopped by 1:00 PM on 19 September 2026.

  • The core batch is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM on 19 September 2026.
  • To facilitate the archival activity, no transaction should be running after that time.
  • Divisions and units have been asked to communicate this to all field users to avoid any implications.

In simple words: finish all PLI/RPLI work before 1:00 PM on Saturday. After that, the system will not be available until Monday morning.

What Exactly Will Be Down

  • All McCamish applications
  • All associated peripheral systems linked to McCamish

This means PLI and RPLI related work such as premium acceptance, policy servicing, new proposals, claims processing and related module operations will not be possible during the downtime window.

Who Has Been Informed

The communication has been sent to PLI SPOCs, ADMs, DDMs and PLI Sections across Circles, including:

  • Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, North East, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Assam, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and Punjab

Copies have also been marked to CGM PLI, GM (Operations), GM (Finance), PLI Help Desk, PLI Directorate sections and the PLI Team at CEPT, Mysuru.

Practical Checklist for Post Office Staff

Use this simple checklist before Saturday afternoon:

  • Complete all pending PLI/RPLI transactions before 1:00 PM on 19.09.2026.
  • Do not accept any premium or proposal in the system after the cut-off time.
  • Inform customers in advance at the counter and through your local WhatsApp groups.
  • Display a notice on the post office notice board about the outage window.
  • Advise customers with premium due dates falling on 19, 20 or 21 September to pay before Saturday 1:00 PM or after Monday 10:00 AM.
  • Do not attempt repeated logins during the downtime — the system is intentionally offline.
  • Keep manual records of any customer request received during the outage and process it once the system is restored.
  • Check with your Divisional Office or PLI SPOC on Monday morning before resuming operations.

A Note for Customers

If you hold a PLI or RPLI policy:

  • Try to pay your premium before 1:00 PM on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
  • The system is expected to be back by 10:00 AM on Monday, 21 September 2026.
  • Downtime is planned maintenance, not a technical failure. Your policy and payment data are safe.
  • For any urgent matter, contact your nearest post office or the PLI Help Desk.

Why Archival Activity Matters

For staff who are curious about the reason behind the outage, here it is in plain language:

  • Over time, insurance applications build up huge volumes of old transaction data.
  • Archival moves this older data into separate storage.
  • This keeps the live database lighter and faster.
  • Archival cannot be done while transactions are running, which is why a full shutdown window is needed.

This is exactly the kind of practical, real-world IT and departmental knowledge that increasingly appears in India Post departmental exam general awareness sections.
