Marks Trend – What Was the Cut-Off?

Looking at the merit list, here is roughly how the marks moved:

  • Highest Paper I marks: 88 out of 95
  • Top 50 candidates: mostly in the range of 80 to 88 marks
  • UR candidates around rank 150-200: in the range of 72 to 75 marks
  • SC candidates: selections continued down to around 64-71 marks
  • ST candidates: selections continued down to around 61-70 marks
  • PwBD (VH / HH / OH) candidates: lowest selection at 53 marks, with some candidates exempted from DEST

Key observation: Most selected candidates scored 24 to 25 out of 25 in DEST. A weak typing score can push you down the merit list even with good Paper I marks. Practise typing seriously.

Important Points From the Result Order

1. Single Merit List at Circle Level

As per Recruitment Rules 2022 for PA/SA Cadres notified in GSR 459(E) dated 17.06.2022, communicated vide Dte letter No. 04-05/2015-SPN-I dated 20.06.2022, and in pursuance of Dte letter No. X-12/6/2021-SPN-II dated 31.12.2021, a single merit list has been prepared at circle level.

2. Merit Based on Paper I + Qualifying in DEST

The merit list is prepared as per marks obtained in Paper I, subject to the candidate qualifying in DEST.

3. No Re-Allocation

The allotted division shown in Annexure-I is final. There will be no re-allocation.

4. No OBC / EWS Reservation in Departmental Quota

Since there is no reservation for OBC and EWS in the departmental quota, and unfilled departmental quota vacancies are offered to GDS, OBC and EWS candidates who fulfil UR eligibility criteria have been selected against UR based on their merit position.

5. Document Verification Is the Appointing Authority’s Personal Responsibility

Before issuing provisional appointment orders, Appointing Authorities must verify:

  • Date of Birth proof
  • Educational qualification certificates
  • PWD certificate
  • Category Certificate and Category Validity Certificate
  • All other eligibility conditions for the respective vacancy year

6. False Declaration = Cancellation

If it is later found that a candidate applied or appeared with a false declaration about educational qualification, category, length of service or physical disability, the selection will be cancelled without any notice.

7. Sealed Cover Cases

  • Candidates with minor punishments are declared as per Dte letters X-7/6/2022-SPN-II dated 17.05.2023, 22.09.2023, 04.03.2024 and No. 17-47/2024-GDS dated 14.10.2024. Their offer of appointment will be issued after completion of the punishment.
  • Candidates with major punishment, or where punishment is yet to be decided, are kept in sealed cover.
  • As per the order, candidates at Sl. No. 5, 106, 199 and 239 have been declared successful, but their promotion will be effective after currency of the penalty.

9. Refusal of Earlier Promotion

Before issuing an offer of appointment, Divisional / Unit Heads must check whether the official had refused an offer of promotion earlier. In such cases, the offer can be issued only after one year from the date of refusal, as per Dte letter No. W-17/10/2023-SPN-I-DOP dated 06.03.2023.

10. APS Candidates

Departmental APS candidates will be appointed in the Unit / Division shown in the Annexure after discharge from APS and completion of pre-appointment formalities including caste verification and training. Division / Unit Heads will issue the NBR certificate with effect from the date the candidate’s junior is appointed in the PA/SA cadre.

What Happens Next – Timeline

  • Within 2 days of result declaration: Divisional / Unit Heads must issue offer of appointment letters so candidates can join at the earliest.
  • By 18.09.2026: Concerned Regional APMG / AD will personally monitor and issue the offer of promotion / offer of appointment.
  • By 09.10.2026: Information on unfilled vacancies to be submitted to Circle Office.

Note: Copies of offer of appointment / appointment orders need not be marked to Circle Office. Only the report of unfilled vacancies has to be sent.

Final Answer Key – Deleted Questions (Annexure-III)

The final answer key for all four series has been released. Five questions were deleted in each series, which is why Paper I was evaluated out of 95 marks instead of 100.

SeriesDeleted Question Numbers
A Series16, 46, 47, 79, 90
B Series6, 36, 37, 69, 80
C Series26, 27, 46, 59, 70
D Series16, 17, 36, 60, 99

The complete question-wise answer key for all 100 questions in Series A, B, C and D is given in Annexure-III of the official PDF. This is extremely useful for candidates preparing for the next Postman to PA and MTS to PA exams – solve the paper and check your answers against this key.

If You Did Not Clear It This Time

Do not lose heart. Look at the marks trend above. The gap between selection and non-selection was often just 2-3 marks. Here is what to work on:

  • DEST is where people lose the race. Most selected candidates scored 24-25 out of 25. Fifteen minutes of daily typing practice can change your entire result next year.
  • Solve this year’s paper with the final answer key. You now have both the questions and the official answers. This is the most reliable study material available.
  • Focus on the deleted questions too. They show which topics were ambiguous, and similar topics often reappear in a cleaner form.
  • Start early, not two months before. Candidates scoring 85+ prepared throughout the year, not in the last few weeks.
  • Keep your service record clean. Even a minor punishment can delay your promotion after selection, as seen in the sealed cover cases.
