Minimum Qualifying Marks (Very Important)
This is the exact criteria used by the Circle, as prescribed by the Directorate.
| Category | Paper-I & Paper-II (Max 140*) | Paper-III MCQ + Subjective (Max 50) | Paper-IV DEST (Max 25) |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 56.00 (40%) | 20.00 (40%) | 18.75 (75%) |
| OBC / EWS | 51.80 (37%) | 18.50 (37%) | 18.75 (75%) |
| SC / ST / PwBD | 46.20 (33%) | 16.50 (33%) | 15.00 (60%) |
Two points candidates must understand:
- *Because 5 questions were deleted in Paper-I, the maximum marks of Paper-I were revised from 95 to 90, and Paper-I + Paper-II became 140 instead of 145. Qualifying marks were fixed accordingly as per Directorate letter A-34012/02/2022-DE dated 21.09.2023.
- LDCE is a promotional exam and there is no reservation in promotion for OBC and EWS. So OBC and EWS candidates had to clear the UR qualifying percentage.
How the Merit List Was Prepared
Simple explanation of the rule that decided everything:
- A single merit list at Circle Level was prepared.
- Merit is based on Paper-I + Paper-II total marks only.
- Paper-III and Paper-IV (DEST) are qualifying in nature. You must pass them, but they add nothing to your merit score.
- Allotment = Merit (category wise – UR, SC, ST, PwBD) matched with your order of preference, subject to vacancy availability in that Division/Unit.
- Tie-breaking was done as per Directorate letter No. 04-08/2019-SPN-I dated 11.12.2020.
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates selected against UR vacancies are adjusted under UR in the roster.

Cut-Off Marks 2026 (Based on the Final Selection List)
This is what most candidates actually want to know. Reading the last selected candidate in each category:
| Category | Approximate Cut-Off (Paper I + II out of 140) |
|---|---|
| UR | 126 |
| SC | 120 |
| ST | 122 |
| UR – PwBD (VH) | 58 (with DEST exempted) |
So in the general category, roughly 90% marks were needed to be safe. This tells you clearly how tough the competition has become for the MTS to Postman departmental exam.
The Painful Part – 5 Candidates in Merit but No Posting
This is the biggest lesson of this result. Five officials scored well above the cut-off but got no division allotment at all, purely because they gave limited options / short order of preference, and no vacancy was left in the divisions they opted for.
| Sl | Name | Unit | Total (I+II) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Muthumala Mahendra | Hyd. Sorting | 132 |
| 2 | Podeti Ramya Krishna | Secunderabad | 130 |
| 3 | Regalla Nagamani | Khammam | 128 |
| 4 | Mahesh Ch | RMS Z | 126 |
| 5 | Shathakoti Sandeep | Warangal | 126 |
Look at candidate number 1 — 132 marks, which is higher than dozens of officials who did get a division. And the notice is blunt about it: no re-allotment requests will be entertained under any circumstances for candidates in this list.
Takeaway for the next exam: clearing the paper is only half the job. Fill every single preference slot in the option form. A blank slot can waste a whole year of hard work.
Joining Rules – Read Before You Celebrate
The result letter lays down a strict timeline:
- Divisional / Unit Heads must issue appointment orders immediately.
- If the official does not join within 7 days, it will be deemed to have been refused.
- Officials on leave may join after the leave period, but only if they communicate their acceptance in writing.
- Candidates who do not wish to join should give their declination in writing, and the Division must report it to Circle Office the same day.
- Consolidated joining report to be submitted by Regional Offices to Circle Office by 21.09.2026.
Declination Has a One-Year Cost
As per Directorate letter No. W-17/10/2023-SPN-I dated 06.03.2023, officials who were selected earlier through LDCE but declined that promotion, and have now qualified again, can be promoted only after one year from the date of last declination.
That is why four candidates in the list (Sl. No. 17, 18, 27 and 37) have been given promotion with a future effective date:
- Machagiri Sai Kiran – Adilabad w.e.f. 06.01.2027
- B. Karuna – Nizamabad w.e.f. 08.05.2027
- G. Srinivas – Secunderabad w.e.f. 01.01.2027
- G. Swarupa – Secunderabad w.e.f. 02.01.2027
Think carefully before declining a promotion. It costs you a full year.
Conditions Attached to This Selection
The selection is purely provisional. Please note:
- No provisional candidate will be appointed without regularization of their candidature.
- Divisions must verify the current status of every qualified candidate before issuing the appointment order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where can I download the Telangana Circle MTS to Postman Result 2026? The result has been sent to GM, CEPT, Mysuru for uploading on the India Post website (www.indiapost.gov.in). It has also been circulated to both Regions, the P&T Administrative Cell (APS Wing) and all recognised service unions.
Q. I passed all papers but my name is not in Annexure-I. Why? Either your Paper-I + Paper-II total fell below the category cut-off, or you were in merit but your preference list was too short and no vacancy remained in your opted divisions.
Q. Do DEST marks improve my rank? No. DEST (Paper-IV) is only qualifying. You need 18.75/25 (UR, OBC, EWS) or 15/25 (SC/ST/PwBD). Higher DEST marks do not push you up the merit list.
Q. Can I request a different division after joining? No. Candidates who join the allotted Division/Unit are not eligible for re-consideration, even if vacancies later arise in their top preferences due to declination. Those vacancies go to the next meritorious candidate.
Q. Does this result apply to GDS candidates? No. This is the LDCE for MTS officials only. The GDS to Postman / GDS to Mail Guard competitive examination result is declared separately, circle by circle.
Missed It This Year? Start Now for 2027
A UR cut-off of around 126 out of 140 means there is no room for casual preparation any more. If your target is MTS to Postman, GDS to Postman, GDS to MTS, MTS to PA/SA or Postman to PA/SA, build the habit now:
- Cover the full syllabus before the notification arrives, not after.
- Practise previous year question papers of your own departmental exam.
- Aim for near-full marks in Paper-II — that is where toppers separate themselves.
- Do daily DEST typing practice. One weak typing test cancels an excellent paper score.
- Revise India Post circulars, rules, GK and current affairs every week.
- Attempt full-length mock tests with a timer to fix your speed.
And on result day, remember the real lesson from Telangana: score high, and fill every preference slot.
