Big learning: In the UR category you needed roughly 65+ out of 98 — that is about 66%. And almost every selected candidate scored 24 to 25 out of 25 in DEST. Typing speed and accuracy are just as important as your written paper.
Very Important Rules Every Candidate Must Read
These clauses decide whether you actually get the posting or lose it.
- 7-Day Rule: Successful candidates must accept or decline their place of posting within seven days from the issue of the offer of appointment order. Failing this, the promotion is deemed declined.
- No re-allotment: Candidates who join their allotted Division/unit will not be considered for re-allotment to other Divisions, even if vacancies arise due to declination. Such vacancies go to the next meritorious candidate.
- Declined in 2025? As per Directorate letter no. W-17/10/2023-SPN-I-DOP dated 06.03.2023, candidates who declined promotion for vacancy year 2025 and are again successful for 2026 shall be promoted only after completion of one year from the date of declination.
- OMR rejection: Candidates who failed to mark the Question Booklet series, left the series field blank, or entered an incorrect/missing Roll Number have been rejected, because such OMR sheets are not machine readable. ⚠️ Re-totalling / revaluation will NOT be entertained.
- SC / ST / PwBD: Appointment is provisional, subject to verification of caste / PwBD status. An undertaking will be taken at the time of relief, and verification must be completed within one month.
- Vigilance / disciplinary cases: Officials with pending vigilance or disciplinary cases, or those undergoing punishment, should not be promoted. Such cases must be reported to the Circle Office.
- Provisional selection: The entire selection is purely provisional, subject to fulfilment of Recruitment Rules. Divisions must verify the current status of candidature before issuing appointment orders.
- Court cases: The selection is subject to the outcome of any court cases on the matter.
- Wrong details? Divisional/Unit Heads must re-check roll numbers, names, community and eligibility, and report any discrepancy immediately.
The OMR Lesson — Read This Twice
This is the most painful part of the result. Some candidates were rejected without their paper being evaluated at all — not because of wrong answers, but because they:
- ❌ Did not mark the Question Booklet series (A/B/C/D)
- ❌ Left the series field blank
- ❌ Wrote an incorrect or missing Roll Number
Their OMR sheets could not be read by the machine. And no re-totalling or revaluation is allowed.
✅ Remember for your next exam: Fill the series and roll number first, before you attempt even one question. One careless circle can waste a full year of preparation.

What Aspirants Should Learn From This Result
If you are preparing for the next MTS to PA, Postman to PA, GDS to PA/SA or any India Post Departmental Exam, take these five points seriously:
- Aim for 70+ out of 98 in Paper-I. The UR cut off sat around 65, so a safe target is well above it.
- DEST is not a formality. 75% is needed for Gen/OBC/EWS, and toppers scored 24–25 out of 25.
- Fill your OMR details correctly. Rejection for a blank series is a completely avoidable loss.
- Answer key challenges matter. Two questions were deleted here, changing the maximum marks from 100 to 98.
- Think about your preference order. Allotment follows merit + preference. Divisions like Kasaragod and Tiruvalla had the most vacancies.
