Good news for postal employees in the North East Circle. The Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Shillong has declared a supplementary result of the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to Postal Assistant (PA/SA).
This result is for eligible Postman, MTS and GDS employees for the vacancy year 2026. Three more candidates have been selected. Here is everything you need to know in simple words.

Why Was a Supplementary Result Released?
After the main result was declared in August, three Postman candidates declined their promotion. They had been allotted to Meghalaya Division and Circle Office, Shillong.
Because of this, three seats became vacant:
- 1 UR vacancy in Circle Office, Shillong
- 2 UR vacancies in Meghalaya Division
The Department then went to the next candidates in the merit list to fill these seats.
List of Selected Candidates
| S.No | Name | Roll No. | Category | Paper-I Marks | DEST Marks | Selected Against | Allotment |

Congratulations to all three selected candidates! 🎉
How Was the Merit List Made?
The supplementary result follows the same method as the main result:
- The merit list is based on marks in Paper-I.
- Candidates must also qualify the DEST (Data Entry Skill Test).
- DEST is a qualifying test only. Paper-I marks decide your rank.
Important Joining Rules for Selected Candidates
- Selected candidates must join as Postal Assistant within 7 days.
- If a candidate is on leave, they must still send their acceptance letter within 7 days.
- If a candidate does not join or reply within 7 days, it will be treated as refusal of promotion.
- Divisional Heads of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram Divisions must send the relieving status quickly, so candidates can report at the Circle Office by 09.10.2026.
Conditions Before Appointment
The selection is provisional and depends on a few checks:
- Document verification of date of birth, educational qualification, category certificate and PwD certificate (if any).
- If any false declaration is found about education, category, service length or disability, the selection will be cancelled without notice.
- If the permission to appear in the exam is later found invalid, the name will be removed from the list at any stage.
- There should be no pending or current disciplinary or vigilance case against the candidate.
A Key Lesson for PA/SA Aspirants
Look closely at the table. Two of the three candidates belong to the ST category, but they were selected against UR (Unreserved) seats. This happened because UR seats are open to everyone based on merit.
So the message is clear. Every single mark in Paper-I matters. The difference between selected candidates here is just 1 to 4 marks. If you score well, you can get a UR seat no matter which category you belong to.
This is why smart preparation is so important for the MTS to PA Departmental Exam and the Postman to PA Departmental Exam. Regular practice with Postal Assistant previous year question papers, mock tests and a proper DEST typing practice routine can give you that extra edge.
Final Words
Supplementary results like this give a second chance to candidates who were just below the cut-off. If you appeared in this exam and your name is not in the list yet, stay in touch with your division office for future updates.
