How Was the Selection Made?

For Postman and Mail Guard, selection was based on the combined marks of Paper I and Paper II. Candidates also had to clear the minimum marks in Paper III (local language) and Paper IV (DEST) separately. This follows Directorate letters dated 05.04.2022 and 19.12.2022.

GDS to MTS

The GDS to MTS list (Annexure F) shows only Paper I marks, so selection for MTS appears to be based on Paper I.

Very high competition: in the GDS to MTS not-selected list, the first UR candidates have 96 out of 96. So even a perfect Paper I score did not guarantee a UR seat, because ties were broken as per Directorate rules.

Tie-break: when marks were equal, rank was decided as per Directorate letter No. 04-08/2019-SPN-I dated 11.12.2020.

How to find your name

  1. Open the result PDF from the India Post website or your division.
  2. Go to the annexure for your exam (see the table above).
  3. Search by your roll number, since many names look alike.
  4. Check your marks, category and whether you are “Selected” or “Not Selected”.

Darkened entries: some rows are blacked out. These are provisional candidates. Their results will be shared only after their provisional status is cleared by their Region or Division.

Top scores

  • MTS to Postman: the top entries scored 136 out of 136 in Paper I + II, with full DEST marks.
  • GDS to Postman: the top entries scored 136 out of 136 in Paper I + II.
  • GDS to MTS: the top entries scored 96 out of 96 in Paper I.

For the full names, marks and categories, see the official result PDF.

What Happens Next?

  • Division allotment: selected candidates will be given Regions, Divisions or Units as per para 5 of the notifications dated 01.06.2026. This will be shared separately.
  • Eligibility re-check: Division Heads will check every selected candidate’s name, roll number, category, date of birth and eligibility again.
  • Names can be removed: if a candidate is later found ineligible, or a mistake is found, their name will be deleted from the list.
  • Report mistakes: any error in name, roll number, marks or category must be reported to the Circle Office before any action is taken.
