Which sub-divisions go to the new Bongaon Division?
The OM does not list this by name, but the numbers match exactly:
- Bongaon Division (3): Habra, Bangaon and Deganga → 41 SOs, 191 BOs, no HO
- Barasat Division (3): Barasat, Basirhat 1st and Basirhat 2nd → 2 HOs, 42 SOs, 237 BOs
Note: The OM text says Deganga is created “under Barasat Postal Division”, but going by the numbers it will fall in the new Bongaon Division once that split happens. The Circle’s final orders will confirm this.
What It Means for Staff
- Group B and C staff: The Head of the Circle will redeploy them, in consultation with CIFA and the Head of Region/Divisional Head.
- Willingness first: Staff will be moved based on their willingness or request, to keep costs and inconvenience low.
- Only live posts: Posts “deemed to be abolished” under DoE instructions cannot be used for redeployment.
- Group A officers: Separate orders will come from the Postal Directorate. Until then, the new units will run through local arrangement or additional charge.
- No new budget: Costs come from existing funds. Any new inspection vehicle needs separate approval.
One-Year Review
The Circle must grow revenue and improve the Expense Coverage Ratio (ECR) of new and old units. After one year, before-and-after figures (concurred by CIFA) will go to the Establishment Division.
