Item 1 – Repairs and Maintenance of Kochi Head Post Office (01-11/2024)

- Kochi HPO is one of only 4 heritage buildings owned by the Department of Posts in Kerala Circle.
- The office is in a prime location and is visited daily by tourists, foreigners and vloggers.
- The building looks shabby because there is no periodic maintenance.
- The last painting and maintenance was done in 2009 under Project Arrow.
- Union requested priority maintenance considering its heritage importance.
Administration reply:
- Circle Office has been asked for guidance on using the CSR funds of Cochin Shipyard Ltd for the repair of the Kochi HO heritage building.
- A reminder was issued on 01.06.2026.
- CO has informed that the proposal is pending at Directorate.

Item 2 – Relocation of NDC Ernakulam (02-11/2024)

- NDC Ernakulam is one of the biggest NDCs in Kerala Circle by mail volume.
- It handles delivery of Speed Parcels and Registered Parcels for major areas of Ernakulam City.
- The NDC is located on the first floor of Ernakulam North PO with no lift.
- Staff face serious difficulty carrying parcels up and down.
- Union requested shifting the NDC to a proper ground floor location.

- Directions will be issued to the Divisional Head to search for an alternate location to house the NDC and Post Office.

Item 3 – Compound Wall of Wandanam Medical College PO, Alappuzha (02-02/2025)

- The compound wall of Wandanam Medical College P.O., Alappuzha has completely broken down.
- Vehicles of the general public are being parked inside and waste is being dumped in the PO compound.
- Urgent reconstruction was requested to safeguard the property and stop trespassing.
Administration reply:
- Divisional Head instructed to demarcate the Department’s own property after the land acquisition by NHAI, and to complete it by 30.08.2026.
- Construction of the compound wall will be considered after confirming the available land area.
- For Ambalapuzha PO: Civil Wing was directed on 19.08.2024 to submit an estimate, which was submitted on 09.01.2026. Sufficient funds are not available for issuing AA & ES. Additional funds requested from CO on 22.05.2026, allotment awaited.

Item 4 – Non-Supply of Thermal Printer Paper Rolls (01-10/2025)

- Thermal printers have been supplied to almost all post offices in the region.
- But thermal paper rolls were never supplied, so the printers are lying idle.
- This is also affecting the warranty of the printers.
- Immediate procurement and supply was requested.
Administration reply:
- CO vide letter No. SD/MPC Stickers/2024 dated 04.12.2025 directed SP PSD to start procurement of thermal sticker rolls for APT thermal printers as per Directorate specifications.
- PSD confirmed it has not initiated procurement, as the specification of the rolls is still awaited from CO.
- The matter was taken up again with CO vide letter No. SD/3-40/2025 dated 30.04.2026.
- Meanwhile, all divisions were directed on 22.04.2026 to procure a minimum quantity of thermal sticker rolls through GeM within the financial powers of the Divisional Head.
