What This Table Is Actually Telling You
Read the numbers, not just the total. Three patterns jump out.
1. RMS units are where the jobs are
- RMS MP Dn. (Bhopal): 46 posts
- RMS JB Dn. (Jabalpur): 16 posts
- RMS ID Dn. (Indore): 16 posts
That is 78 out of 120 posts — nearly 65% of the entire circle sitting in just three RMS divisions. If you are serious about getting selected, RMS must appear high in your preference list.
2. Several big divisions have zero vacancies
Bhopal, Guna, MMS Bhopal, Mandla, Satna and Sehore all show 0.
If your home division is one of these, understand it clearly: there is no MTS post available there this year. Preferring only your home division would mean no allotment even with good marks.
3. Category matters enormously this year
- OBC candidates: 8 of the 12 OBC posts are in RMS ID Dn. alone.
- ST candidates: 12 in RMS MP Dn., 5 in DAP, 4 in RMS JB Dn. — 21 of 25 in just three units.
- EWS candidates: 18 posts spread thinly across many small divisions. This is actually good news — less crowding.
- SC candidates: only 15 posts, and 10 of them in RMS MP Dn.
Look up your own category column first. Your real competition is there, not in the grand total.
The Preference Form Lesson (Please Do Not Skip)
We have seen this go wrong in circle after circle this season. Candidates clear the exam comfortably, then get no posting at all because their preference list was short.
So when the preference/option form stage arrives:
- Fill every slot in the order of preference. Do not stop after three or four.
- Put a realistic high-vacancy unit (RMS MP / RMS JB / RMS ID) somewhere in your top choices.
- Do not list only zero-vacancy divisions like Bhopal or Satna, however close to home they are.
- Check the PH sub-category if you are a PwBD candidate — VH 2, HH 1, OH 1, Others 1.
- Keep a photocopy of the submitted form with you.
One line of extra effort on that form is worth more than another week of study.
Who Can Apply – GDS to MTS Eligibility in Short
The vacancies are being filled through the GDS Exam 2026 route as per the Recruitment Rules 2023. Broadly:
- You must be a serving Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) of the recruiting Postal Circle.
- You must meet the service/engagement period condition prescribed in the rules.
- You must satisfy the educational and age conditions laid down in the MTS Recruitment Rules 2023.
- Selection is through the prescribed competitive/departmental examination and merit.

Q. What does CRC mean here? The memo shows 6 CRC vacancies (5%) but does not expand the abbreviation. Do not guess — ask your Divisional Office or wait for the detailed notification for the exact meaning and eligibility.
Q. My division shows 0. Can I still apply? Yes, you can appear for the exam. But you will be allotted to some other division as per merit and preference. So fill your preference form with that reality in mind.

120 Posts, Thousands of Applicants – Prepare Accordingly
Be honest with yourself about the maths. MP Circle has thousands of GDS and only 120 MTS posts. This exam will be decided by a handful of marks.
What actually works:
- Start the GDS to MTS syllabus now, not after the notification drops.
- Solve GDS to MTS previous year question papers — the pattern repeats more than you think.
- Build a question bank and practice set habit, one set a day.
- Take full-length mock tests with a timer so speed stops being your weak point.
- Revise India Post circulars, postal rules, GK and current affairs weekly.
- Keep a separate notebook for operational topics like Delivery Centres, IPPB and mail processing — these are increasingly asked.
The candidates who get selected are rarely the smartest in the room. They are the ones who started three months earlier.
