Who Is This Test For?

This Data Entry Skill Test is only for candidates who have already qualified the LGO PA/SA written examination for the vacancy year 2026.

  • LGO means Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for Group C posts.
  • Through this route, departmental staff get promoted to Postal Assistant (PA) and Sorting Assistant (SA).
  • The written exam is the first stage. The Data Entry Skill Test is the second and final stage.
  • The list of qualified candidates will be circulated separately by the Circle Office.

So if your name is not in that list, this notice does not apply to you.

Important Dates You Must Note

ActivityDate
Venue to be fixed and intimated by Centre Supervisor05.08.2026
Hall permit to be issued by divisions10.08.2026
Data Entry Skill Test16.08.2026 (Sunday)

Point to note: the notice does not name the exact building or venue. The Centre Supervisor (Sr Supdt of Post Offices, Bhopal Division) was asked to fix the venue and inform all divisions. The venue will come to you along with your hall permit from your own division, not from the Circle Office.

If you do not receive your hall permit by 10.08.2026, contact your Divisional Office immediately. Do not wait till the last day.

Exam Duration – Read This Carefully

This is the part most candidates misunderstand.

  • The actual Data Entry Skill Test is only 15 minutes, as prescribed in the syllabus.
  • But the total time you spend at the centre will be 45 minutes to 1 hour per shift/batch.
  • The extra time is for verification, seating, system allotment, instructions, and post-test formalities.
  • Because 248 candidates are appearing at one centre, the test may be conducted in multiple shifts or batches, depending on how many computers the venue has.

So the reporting time is 10:00 AM onwards, but your own batch may be later in the day. Plan your travel and food accordingly, and do not book a return ticket for the early afternoon.

What to Carry on Exam Day

  • Hall permit issued by your Divisional Office
  • Original photo ID proof (office ID card, Aadhaar, PAN, etc.)
  • Photocopy of ID proof
  • Passport size photographs
  • Ballpoint pen
  • Any other document mentioned in your hall permit

Reach the centre at least 45 minutes early. Sunday traffic in Bhopal is lighter, but a new venue always takes time to locate.

How to Prepare in the Remaining Days

You have a short window before 16.08.2026. Use it properly.

  • Practice daily on a computer, not on a mobile keyboard. The feel is completely different.
  • Focus on accuracy first, speed second. In a data entry test, mistakes cost more than slow typing.
  • Practise typing from printed matter kept beside the screen, because that is how the real test works. Do not look at your keyboard.
  • Do at least 5 to 6 rounds of 15-minute practice every day so your fingers get used to the exact duration.
  • Practise numbers and special characters too. Most candidates practise only plain text and then struggle with numeric data.
  • Sit in the same posture you will use in the exam hall. Small thing, big difference.
  • Check the syllabus once again for the prescribed speed and error limit, and confirm with your division if you have any doubt.

Simple rule: clean typing beats fast typing.

Why This Notice Matters for Other Departmental Aspirants

Even if you are not appearing in this test, this notice tells you something important — the department is actively conducting promotion exams for the vacancy year 2026.

If you are preparing for any of these, this is your signal to get serious:

  • GDS to MTS Departmental Exam
  • GDS to Postman / Mail Guard Exam
  • MTS to PA / SA Departmental Exam
  • Postman to PA / SA Departmental Exam
  • LGO PA SA Exam

The pattern is the same everywhere. First the written paper, then the skill test where applicable. Candidates who clear the written paper but ignore typing practice lose the post at the last step. It happens every single year.

So along with your GDS to MTS Study Material, MTS to PA Question Paper sets, and Postman to PA Previous Year Question Papers, keep 30 minutes daily for computer typing. Treat it as part of the syllabus, not as an extra.

What Serious Candidates Should Do Next

A complete preparation plan for India Post departmental exams should include:

  • GDS to MTS Online Classes and MTS to PA Online Classes with live and recorded lectures
  • Full coverage of the GDS to MTS Syllabus, MTS to PA Syllabus and Postman to PA Syllabus
  • India Post Previous Year Question Papers and GDS to MTS Practice Set papers
  • Regular India Post Mock Tests with proper analysis of mistakes
  • Timely updates on notifications, admit cards, exam dates and results
  • Daily typing and data entry practice for the skill test stage

Candidates from Madhya Pradesh Circle, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Assam and West Bengal Circle all follow the same pattern, so this preparation strategy works everywhere.
